Taylor Mattie, our catering manager with over a decade of experience in the food service industry, views food as an art form—a way to express creativity and bring people together. Most recently, Taylor worked at the Art Gallery of Alberta, where she honed her skills in creating culinary experiences that complemented the beauty of the artwork. With a background spanning multiple provinces, Taylor has curated memorable events for a diverse range of clients, from intimate gatherings to large-scale affairs, ensuring seamless execution and guest satisfaction. Returning to her hometown, Taylor is excited to share her Maritime hospitality with event guests at StFX, eager to deliver exceptional events that leave a lasting impression.
Guerin Sykes, a Nova Scotia native, has dedicated the past twenty-five years to refining his culinary expertise in Ontario. A graduate of Niagara College with an apprenticeship at Glen Abbey Golf Course, Guerin earned his Red Seal certification and continued his studies at Humber College towards Certified Chef de Cuisine accreditation. His career includes executive chef roles at York and McMaster Universities and the position of National Corporate Chef for Rational Canada, where he collaborated with international chefs. Guerin's contributions extended to Prince Edward County, where he launched local breweries and wineries and opened his own restaurant group, earning accolades like the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award and features in the New York Times Travel. Now, as the Executive Chef at St. Francis Xavier University, Guerin brings his extensive experience, expertise, and hometown pride to his new role, ready to create culinary excellence for the university community.
